Johnston Square Apartment Renovations

Through a design-build contract with Baltimore City, SP Arch Inc. was hired to convert four large row homes into ten apartments. The renovation project was part of the Housing Authority of Baltimore City effort to increase both affordable housing and accessible housing within the City. The design included restoration of the exterior brick walls, doors and windows. The historic elements of the front façade of the buildings was preserved as much as possible or replicated. The exterior concealed the more contemporary interior that had been gutted to remove deteriorated framing from prior renovations leaving from for a new open space design that maximized the floor area of each unit. Renovations included modern kitchens, larger bedrooms, living and dining rooms.
